. . . resorted to photographs

Don't forget to comment on this blog and request a collage to celebrate my 365th post. The deadline is 1-31-09.

because, unbelievably, I made no art yesterday, the second day in a row. I was busy. . . I had errands to run; I hid out for a while; went to Dean & Deluca and bought a kick-ass dessert (an apple crumb cheese cake slice) just for me, just for a treat; chatted on the phone; visited with a friend; watched TV. . . okay, I'm avoiding the studio. I wish I could share with all of you what's really going on around here, but this is not the forum for that sort of thing. But looking through these old pictures, I am again inspired. and I realize how long it's been since I went exploring with the camera. So I am geared up to head down to the studio today and get something done.

My blog friend Leslie and I have a swap going. She sent me the most amazing collage in her signature quiet shades. I absolutely love it, and she is a truly talented artist. I hope that she will like what I send to her, but as I told her, my offering pales in comparison. Thanks, Leslie. . . I treasure your collage.

It's okay to have a day off. Everyone needs a break. I wish I had been there to share your treat. This is a fantastic photo. Great division of space.

This is a gorgeous photo. I saw it in a untitled post first, with the lines more vertical, and it really wowed me like that.
Hope you have a good art day today. I did a collage last night and am finishing a second one this morning...after many months of painting and no collage...I think your collages inspired me.

But Leslie, two days off is not good. It might become a habit. But my goal now is to emulate how neatly your collage is put together. Again, I really really love it.

I'm drooling! This entire blog is drool worthy. The photographs, the collages, and inspiring to read! Do I have you linked to my blog? I'd like to- I suffer from short term memory disfunction due to brain overload - ok I made that up, but I find it so refreshing to come in here and sit and look. Just like a favorite gallery!
Thanks for turning me on to Leslies space as well.
Blessings to you today-
Crystal

Mary, Leslie's collages are beautiful and so are yours. And I love your not-so-neat look so don't abandon it!

I've spent the past 30 minutes looking back through much of your year of posts and I'm just astonished anew by so much gorgeous stuff, not to mention your daily commentary, which I relish. Congratulations on your upcoming blog-anniversary. xox, ps

I love this photo! Maybe you need to print out a photo and use it as the base for a new collage?!? We all avoid the studio on occasion, and it WILL pass.

What a beautiful strong photo! I won one of Leslie's collages as my name came out of the hat - and as you are friends one of yours would be just fabulous to hang on the wall next to hers! So yes please this is my request!

Hi, Anita: I'm glad you like the photo and I'm glad you are finding inspiration to make your own collages. Isn't it just the most fun? I almost don't want to paint any more. Well, I guess that's kind of obvious, isn't it, since I simply haven't and I need to.

Crystal, I found your blog through Seth at the Altered Page. I spent a bit of time looking through it the other day. Your art is amazing. I love it. I also read your story as published in the newspaper. I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen to me, too. I so admire your courage and your determination, as well as your art. I hope you decide to link my blog on yours. Thank you for the kind comments.

Thank you, PS, I'm so glad you like my art and my blog. You are definitely an inspiration to me. I have followed your blog since before your move to Chicago, and I was feeling the emotions of that move along with you. But it appears that the move agrees with you and your have adjusted beautifully. I love Chicago, but haven't been there for a while. It might be time for a road trip this spring. (Ten hours that fly by if I go with my sister, less than one hour if I white-knuckle it on the airplane.)

Oh, Karen, that's such a good idea. I think I need to invest in a better printer, though, because everything this one spits out fades and bleeds and just turns into junk. I have sprayed the latest b&w print-outs, some with workable fixative and some with lacquer. I'm hope one of those methods will work better.

Jeane: Thanks, I love old crusty things. . . well, some anyway. Wait till you see the picture I have taken of the metal piece of something or other the furnace guy replaced. He though I was nuts when I asked him if I could keep it.

Rose, you are on the list. I think the contrast between Leslie's and mine would be interesting. Thanks for stopping by the blog.
