With almost 300 new pictures, I have plenty of fodder for this blog for a while. The junkyard I visited last week had tons (literally, tons) of yellow goodness, ranging from the side of some kind of large tank to wheels of all sizes. The "eyeball" in the picture above is kind of creepy, but I love it.
Another wheel. . .those circles are in my head.
A stack of yellow somethings. . .
The aforementioned tank. . .
Love the juxtaposition here. . . could have cropped it more, but decided I liked the darkness surrounding the vivid light.

Gee, I am jealous! I don’t have such a cool junk yard! Great artistic eye Mary. I bet you can’t wait to paint the red shots!
The yellow and the rust... Looks freakishly like the skin I just got for my laptop...
Love where you are going with the last two posts. I do appreciate found art. The colors are fantastic!
Aunt Mary, We missed you on the forth! Imagine 12 people piling in the van driving to Melvern lake to watch fireworks.... Hope that gave you a nice laugh. It was certainly interesting, and Omi wasn't too pleased with it, but she did come! Anyway, Happy Belated 4th, hope you had a good one:)! Love, Lauren
I LOVE this yellow stuff! I take pictures of rusted junk all the time and find it so compelling, so beautiful. Like you do, I suppose. I view it as Wabi Sabi because it is finding the beautiful in the ugly, the left-behind, the forgotten. There is beauty in everything, don't you agree?? I, too, love the circles. I have a painting that I started a while ago that is nothing BUT circles. Still to be completed.
Very vibrant and captivating images Mary. A good welcome back to blogland for me after a month away. Do you enhance the colour or are the objects really this beautiful?
I love your junkyard photos. I will be in Kansas City next May and hope to find some of these great junkyards. Wonderful colors and compositions. I am enjoying this series.
Leslie: I'm jealous, too. . . you get to hang out with artists and create. the photoshoot must have jump-started the creativity in me, because I have finished five paintings since then. I would love to be able to paint the red stuff and do it justice. Why don't you come and visit me? We'll go looking for cool junk.
Jazz: Cool skin. At least it doesn't look like your real skin, right?
Marie: Thanks, found art is the best.
Lauren: No, I can't imagine that scene. Missed you guys, too, but I thought surely we would have a firecracker baby. We already have two sparklers. . .
Teri, totally agree with you. There IS beauty in almost anything and anyone. Wabi sabi. . . I need to look into that concept a bit more, should be interesting research.
Margaret: Glad you are back, missed your blog postings. What a wonderful opportunity for you to be on vacation for a month. And yes, I do enhance the colors. I'm not that good at photography.
Miki: When you come to KC, please let me know and we can hook up maybe, if you like. I could show you some really cool places to take grungey photos.
Love your rusty pix! I'm esp drawn to the eye-popping yellows... all of them are just wonderful abstracts. And love those doors too... I'm partial to taking pix of junk that's rusting and discarded, there's something so captivating about it.
I love your treasures, think I'll head to the junkyard!
