. . . wandered through alleys

during lunch time yesterday. I love the picture above. . . the textures and colors of the building are amazing. The effects of deferred maintenance, in real estate jargon. Click on the picture to enlarge it. I didn't crop this one because I wanted to show you the building itself, but it's evident there is inspiration for paintings here.

Juicy colors and textures on a concrete wall below a rusted metal fence.

Hubbell telescope-like shot, only this is of the Deffenbaugh Disposal garbage dumpster. . .

and another side of the same dumpster. You just have to love an old city with alleys.

Lovely colours and textures in the old building and wonderful 'found abstracts' from the dumpster. I think there is much material here for painted abstracts. Good luck.

Mary,
Will get a note off to you soon.
I so enjoy your comments interspersed with your art. Perhaps you should write a book...
Infection in one knee sent me back to the hospital, where I looked out the window and saw Mary-inspired parallels in rooftops, punctuated by towers, bridges.
You followers should be BUYING MARY'S WORK NOW before she's "discovered" and out of our bracket. It's that good.
Oh, yeah--I think that round thing with the blue "thimbles" around its circumference may be a small-airplane engine. A radial engine, at least. I think.

Loved the building, but just be careful out there. With the potholes big enough to swallow you, I'd hate to have you trip while a camera was at your eye. We want you back every afternoon!! Amy

as I said before you have the most incredible painting sources in your nearby streets and alleys and dumpsters-- such rich visual material for your paintings.

The colors in these photos are amazing. You have such a wonderful eye for the incredible beauty around you that most people would miss completely.

I'm normally crawling about inside the skip much to my family's mortification, but your pics make me want to roll about in all those rusty flakes & colors! I gave up alleyways for life on an island & one of my favorite places for inspiration is the inside of abandoned boats. I may do a rust post - I've never 'met' so many people with a passion for rust, why do we love it so much?
