. . . shared nature crafts

with Betsy and Joe on Saturday at their house. Betsy begged me to "make some nature crafts." I said, okay, so what do we need to make nature crafts. She said, well, some paper and some glue and, oh, yeah, Nana, we need some nature.

Betsy got out the paper, asked her Mommy for the glue, and both she and Joe started to gather "nature."

Betsy found some very cool seed pods, wood chips, grass and leaves and I was in charge of the glue, sort of . . .

Sometimes they got ahold of the glue before I did, and so we had quite a bit of it to spread around. The picture above is my favorite, and includes a couple of very interesting mushrooms that were growing in their side yard. I had to reassure them that since we were not going to eat them, they probably wouldn't hurt us. Betsy told me, with great authority, that fairies hide under toad stools when it rains.

This is Joey's creation. . . a clump of grass with all the dirt still attached, plopped into the middle of a great puddle of glue. It stuck, much to our amazement.

I love watching children create. They impose no rules on themselves.

I love Joey's clump of grass. Reminds me of something Amanda would do. Just dump something on and move on to the next thing...Love the statue with the Groucho nose on it!

Children are the most creative creatures on earth--- before they get messed up like us adults :-)
